At Harrison County Fairs 5th Annual Youth Rodeo and Truck Tug of War
July 30, 2022
Pre-registration ends July 25, 2022 (any registrations received after July 25th are not guaranteed entry into the contest.)

This will be an Amateur Chef/ Professional Chef contest.
IF YOU WANT TO BE APART OF A DIFFERENT EXPERIENCE AND BELIEVE YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES TO WIN, THEN THIS CONTEST IS FOR YOU!!!!!

BBQ Category: 2 meat items
1 whole chicken smoked or grilled.

1 pork butt smoked or grilled.

Entry Fee: $100 per team (teams may include 1 Head Chef and 2 other team members) ***

each team of 3 will receive free entry into the fair ALL OTHER GUESTS MUST PAY ENTRY FEE

Chef/ Team Rule and Responsibilities:
Each team is responsible for ALL equipment, supplies and meat/food needed for the contest
Each team is responsible for the maintenance, cleanliness, and clean up of their own cooking area. (Any team leaving its designated area in a condition that requires additional clean-up may be disqualified from participation of any future events)
Head Chef will be responsible for the conduct and behavior of their team and guest.
Each team should be equipped with a readily available and visible fire extinguisher.
Competing cooks are not allowed to judge and a judge is not allowed to cook. This rule is intended to be fair for all contestants.
Contestants may be able to sell their food products to the public. (*** CONTESTANTS WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL FEES, PAPERS, PERMITS REQUIRED TO SELL FOOD TO THE PUBLIC.)
Registration fees and entry form must be turned in to reserve your spot. (Any entries received after the stated pre-registration date of July 25th are not guaranteed entry. The committee reserves the right to reject any entry, if an entry has been rejected a full refund will be issued.)
NO REFUND will be given to any entry accepted into the contest.

(unless committee agrees and reasonable withdraw from the contest is founded.)
Only one cooking team per area.
Contestants cannot share smokers/ grills.
All entries must be prepared in a sanitary a manner as possible.

ALL LOCAL HEALTH AND DEPT RULES/ REGULATIONS MUST BE COMPLIED WITH.
ALL LOCAL FIRE DEPT RULES/ REGULATIONS MUST BE COMPLIED WITH.
*****ABSOLUTELY NO FIRE ARMS OR EXPLOSIVES WILL BE PERMITTED IN ANY COOKING AREAS AT ANY TIME*****
*****ANY TYPE OF ALCOHOL OR ILLEGAL SUBSTANCES ARE NOT ALLOWED ON THE FAIR GROUNDS AT ANY TIME*****
No REFUND will be given for disqualification, In the event that any team does not comply with all the rules set forth.


Judging turn-in requirements and scoring

Each team should submit sufficient food items from the contests stated category to facilitate adequate judging by at least 10 judges.
A blind judging will be in place. Please have any entry ready for collection by 5PM. Absolutely NO entries will be taken after 5PM and will be disqualified from judging.
All entries will be scored on a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best for each item presented.
In the event there is a tie with total points scored the winner will be determined with individual entry score starting with chicken, if a tie is still determined the next tie breaker item will be Pork, if a tie is still determined a separate blind judging will occur by one committee member  
ALL DECISIONS OF THE HOST, CONTEST COMMITTEE, AND JUDGES ARE FINAL.
